« Across 110th Street »

« Across 110th Street » The second release of this pulsating band centres on a collaboration with one of the greatest artists of the late twentieth century, Ruben Blades. The New York based singer thus renews ties with his old friend Oscar Hernandez who first worked his piano alongside Blades in 1976. Three decades along, the separate musical and artistic roads this duo has taken have allowed the two seasoned performers to enrichen the musical palate from which they can draw from.
The result, « Across 110th Street » is a solid salsa album, that leaves no room for innovation but is nonetheless pulsating and highly danceable. With a powerful horn section (two trombones, two trumpets and a sax baritone), the SHO could well surpass the success of their first release, « Un Gran Dia en el Barrio », that was unsuccessfully nominated for a Grammy award in 2002 (in the best salsa album of the year category). The unquenchable enthusiasm of Blades and a swing remniscent of the grand old days of Latin orchestras are ingredients which are bound to grab the attention of salsa afficionados and music critics throughout the global Latin community.
